This short 15 minute presentation is a COMET Corporation and Penny Ferry Training initiative, to explain some of the basic hazards that occur along coastlines of the world, whether rocky or sandy shores. Visitors to the coast need to be aware of potential dangers, especially those coming for brief periods from inland locations.
The course does not cover all hazards, as these can vary in type and severity between locations, but gives an overall awareness of things to look out for. Tour guides and operators at these coastal locations need to ensure visitors are familiar with such hazards.
The course consist of a short PowerPoint Presentation and a short video that attempts to explain the hazards, but is not definitive. Completion of the course means you are more aware than before, and will give better understanding when dealing with tourists. Look out for your visitors - they are a source of livelihood for yourself and the community, and just common decency means that you should safeguard them from injury and ensure they have a good time!
On completion of the test associated with the course, we will issue you with a Certificate of Completion as evidence that you went through the theory.
