This is a short Course that explains the different Ocean Currents and their importance to the planet and the species in different parts of the world. The Southern African continent is used as an example, but the theories apply equally to other parts of the globe.
The Course attempts to cover the following Learning Outcomes, to enable the Learner to:
- Explain the different Ocean Currents of the world Explain the composition of the sea in terms of density, salinity and flow
- Describe the properties of Ocean Currents in terms of temperature, densities and salinity and their behaviours
- Describe how different currents affect the coastal and inland regions of a country
- Describe how the tidal systems work around the globe
- Describe how local inshore currents are formed, their names and their effects on bathers and visitors
The Course consists of a Video, a Presentation slide show, Course Notes, two Assignments and a Quiz.
