ET~110 - Whale Watching Elective Modules (Tour Guide level 2)

This course consists of 6 standard short Modules and an addition 7th Module for the Boat Based Whale Watching component.
All 6 Modules must be successfully completed for the Land and Boat-Based learners, and only the 7th Module is required for the Boat-Based learners.

This is not a Course on its own, but are additional Modules for those Level 2 Marine Site Guides  specializing in Whale Watching


The Modules should be taken in the order presented, and each completed before proceeding to the next.

The Practical Assignments should motivate the individual learner to research and find out more about local conditions, and other aspects of interest. They should also be answered as if explaining to the visitor/tourist who is on the field or boat trip, so try to make them factual but interesting where possible.


Objectives

To provide some additional details to the learner that relate more specifically to Cetaceans (whales and dolphins)

Target Audience

Those completing the Marine (Nature) Site Guide, Level 2 course. For those doing the Modules as stand-alone, to supplement qualifications already achieved, or for interest.

Learning Outcomes

Learners should have sufficient basic knowledge and understanding of Cetaceans to be able to carry out an effective (Guided) Whale Watching Tour

Scope & Requirements

Completion of the modules, Quizes and Assignments of the Marine (Nature) Site Guide, Level 2

Those doing the Modules as stand-alone modules, need to satisfactorily complete all assignments and quizzes to achieve a Certificate of Completion.

Cost

No Charge when taken with the Marine (Nature) Site Guide, Level 2 course.

Free Access is only given for those completing the Nature Site Guide Level 2 Course.

Those wishing to complete the Modules as stand-alone, may do so at a cost of R 950 pp.


Note

These Electives are specific to Land and Boat Based Whale Watching, to make you a Specialty Marine (Nature) Site Guide, Level 2. If taken without a formal qualification, they are for interest only.
