This category of courses encompasses activities associated with either the Marine or the Coastal Environments (or a combination), as well as specific Land and Inland areas, as well as other factors that have an influence.

Marine: means the courses and subjects are aimed at creating an awareness of things directly associated with the sea and ocean environment, including animal, bird, fish and plant species associated with them. The definition of marine includes the offshore as well as inshore areas, up to the low tide mark.

Coastal: means the courses and subjects are aimed at creating an awareness of things directly associated with the coastline and land areas only, including sandy and rocky shores, cliffs, river mouths, deltas, mangroves etc. In other words, the coastal land area strip down to the low sea tide mark.

Inland: means the courses and subjects are aimed at creating an awareness of things directly associated with the land environment, including animal, bird, fish and plant species. They may also include water and riverine areas of inland locations where species and behaviours are distinct and different.

Target Audience: The material contained in these courses is aimed at all people who live and work in the areas being covered - generall marine and coastal areas, bushland, forest and grassland areas and distinct riverine, estuarine, swamp, marsh or lake environment. This includes employees in the hospitality industry (hotels, guest houses, operators, tour companies and so on), members of local coastal communities, fishermen involved in both inshore and deep water fishing, students and school leavers, and even tourist guides and info centre personnel.Penny-Ferry-Training-LOGO
