Personal Hygiene is a sensitive subject that embarrasses many people. However, it is a topic that needs to be addressed in the workplace, in public and at home as it has a wide effect on people around you and on you own self image and self confidence.

This Module gives an overview of the problems and solutions and actions to take to ensure the individual's personal hygiene is of an acceptable, if not of the highest possible, standard. It is an important Module and one that can be studied carefully and privately without involving others. 

Objectives

To instruct people in the social importance of practicing good Personal Hygiene at all times, and the impact of not doing so on the individual's general health and the effect on others.

Target Audience

All people, young and old and whether working or not.

Learning Outcomes

To understand the implications of not practising good Personal Hygiene, and the effects on others

To have knowledge and understanding of some of the basic causes of unacceptable hygiene

To provide simple and common sense actions to take and adhere to on a regular basis to avoid personal hygiene problems

To understand the particular importance of Personal hygiene in the catering, food and beverage industries

Scope & Requirements

  1. Learners must be able to communicate (read and speak) without difficulty in the English language
  2. Learners must be willing and able to understand and recognize different situations where personal hygiene is important
  3. Learners must be willing and able to openly discuss their personal hygiene standards, and accept criticism from others if necessary
  4. To adopt personal hygiene practices and make it the 'norm' in terms of daily behaiour
